Tim Walz signed laws catering to illegal migrants, giving them free healthcare, tuition

President Biden’s “border secretary,” Vice President Kamala Harris, chose a politician who is also soft on illegal immigrants as her running mate.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, 60, who was named Harris’ running mate on Tuesday, has supported efforts to make his home state a sanctuary state but also supports measures to help illegal immigrants.

“My position on Minnesota being a sanctuary state really boils down to who is responsible for enforcing our immigration laws,” Walz told CBS News in 2018.

“Here’s my take: Congress has given federal agencies the authority to enforce immigration laws in Minnesota, and I support that authority,” he said. “Congress has not given local law enforcement the same authority. The role of law enforcement is to enforce state and local laws, not federal immigration laws, and I strongly believe that they should not do that.”

“Sanctuary states” is an informal term used to refer to states that limit or refuse cooperation between federal immigration authorities and local law enforcement.

As governor, Walz signed several bills Government-funded medical care, driver’s license and Free university tuition Against illegal immigrants.

“Ensuring that our state’s drivers are licensed and insured will make our roads safer for all Minnesotans,” Gov. Walz said after signing a bill that will allow thousands of undocumented immigrants in the state to get driver’s licenses in 2023.

“As a long-time supporter of this bill, I am proud to finally sign it into law. This bill will make our roads safer and bring us closer to our goal of making Minnesota the best state where everyone can raise a family.”

Walz also “applauded” efforts to withdraw National Guard troops from the southern border in protest of former President Donald Trump’s separation of migrant families.

He also said he would invest in a “ladder factory” while criticizing President Trump’s border wall construction.

“I always say, ‘Tell me how high it is.’ If it’s 25 feet, I’ll invest in a 30-foot ladder factory. That’s not going to stop this,” Walz said at the time, adding that the border needed more technology and manpower.

Harris’ formal announcement as the vice presidential nominee is expected to take place on Tuesday night at a campaign event in Philadelphia, marking their first appearance together and attended by four others. A source told CNN..

Democratic presidential nominee Harris has led the Biden administration’s disastrous efforts to stem illegal migration from Central America amid record illegal crossings at the southern border.

She also supported decriminalizing illegal immigration, likened ICE agents to the “KKK” and falsely claimed the Border Patrol was cracking down on immigrants.

Before taking office as governor in 2018, Walz served 24 years in the Army National Guard and 10 years in the House of Representatives.
