New York City police on Sunday released new photos of one of more than a dozen suspects charged in the stabbing of a 17-year-old boy during a large brawl near an immigrant shelter in Times Square. did.

The stabbing happened around 5:30 p.m. Thursday near West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue, just around the corner from the Candler Building, a vacant office tower-turned-immigrant shelter, according to the New York Daily News.

New York City police announced Sunday that eight people are under investigation in connection with the attack. Five of them are considered fair-skinned, and the remaining three are medium-skinned.

Police have already released photos of the eight people on the run.

New images on Sunday better depicted one of the suspects wearing a blue jacket and his face hidden.

Six people have already been arrested in connection with the stabbing, including five teenagers.

The 17-year-old boy who was stabbed in the back is believed to be a Nicaraguan immigrant, WABC reported.

The NYPD said a group of unidentified individuals approached a 17-year-old boy and began a verbal altercation.

“A physical altercation ensued and the victims repeatedly punched, kicked and assaulted the victim around the body,” police said in a press release. “The victim also suffered a stab wound to the back and was transported by EMS to New York City Health Hospital/Bellevue in stable condition. The victims fled the scene on foot and were last seen… I had just entered the Times Square subway station.

On Saturday, NYPD Crime Stoppers released surveillance video of a group wanted in a gang assault case.

The Daily News has identified the only adult charged so far in connection with the stabbing as Michael Colom, 22, of Queens.

He, three 16-year-olds and two 14-year-olds are charged with gang assault, assault and possession of a weapon. Colome was arraigned Saturday in Manhattan Criminal Court and remains in custody at Rikers Island on $100,000 bail, the newspaper said.


The incident occurred in the same area where two NYPD officers were attacked by a group of immigrants earlier this month. Seven of the 11 migrants suspected of being involved in the attack were subsequently charged.
