TLC Singer Chilli Clarifies She Is 'Not MAGA' After Mistakenly Sharing Post Labeling Michelle Obama a Man and Contributing to Republican Causes

TLC’s Rozonda Thomas, known as “Chili,” has clarified her political stance, emphasizing that she does not identify as a MAGA supporter. This clarification follows a controversial post where she referred to Michelle Obama derogatorily and made donations to Republican causes.

“To be clear, I am not MAGA and do not align with many of the policies affecting the American people negatively,” Chili stated in an Instagram post on Saturday.

“I made a mistake that many often do: I overlooked the details. I thought I was contributing to the fight against human trafficking and supporting veterans,” the singer of “No Scrubs” expressed further.

“My father is a veteran, and my children mean the world to me. Those are just two things I hold dear. I’ve learned a valuable lesson and hope for understanding as I navigate this situation,” she concluded in her statement.

The TLC member’s post included a video that shed more light on the situation.

“I wanted to touch on some concerning things circulating online,” Chili started in the video. “First, I have immense respect and admiration for Michelle Obama; I would never disrespect her.”

“I was completely unaware of the repost until I received multiple calls and messages from friends. I went to check my page right away,” she explained.

Chili added, “I’m not the most tech-savvy, so I was looking for the repost button, but they’re all pretty close together. I must have accidentally hit the wrong one while scrolling.”

“Again, I had no idea this was happening until I started getting calls,” she reiterated. “I deleted it immediately. I wouldn’t post something like that; I just wouldn’t.”

The 55-year-old shared: “I’ve supported the Obamas. I’ve worked on their campaigns, voted for Obama twice, and backed the initiative Michelle set up at her school for children’s causes.”

On the topic of her previous donations to the Republican Party, Chili remarked, “These donations support veterans. I’ve always backed them, not just recently.”

This past weekend, Chili faced backlash from fans after it was disclosed that she donated several hundred dollars to Donald Trump’s campaign.

Records from the Federal Election Commission (FEC) reveal that Chili made 17 donations during the 2024 election cycle, including contributions of $210 to a Republican fundraising platform, $486 to a super PAC associated with Trump, and $200 to the Trump National Committee.

However, this isn’t the first time Chili has shown conservative views; in 2017, when asked about Black Lives Matter, she remarked, “All lives matter.”
