Todd and Julie Chrisley Celebrate Freedom and Reflect on Faith
Todd and Julie Chrisley have recently stepped away from their prison sentences, attributing their release to both faith and, perhaps, a little help from Donald Trump.
In their first sit-down interview since receiving a presidential pardon, the reality TV couple spoke with Lara Trump, who is notably President Trump’s daughter-in-law. They shared their thoughts on faith, gratitude, and what lies ahead.
“We are grateful to God,” Todd expressed during the emotionally charged discussion. “I believe God touched President Trump’s heart and led people to defend us. I prayed for a way to reunite with my wife and children, and I think He made that happen.”
Julie recalled the moment she learned about the pardon from their daughter, Savannah Chrisley. “She called me, excitedly saying, ‘He did it! He signed it!’ Then she hung up, shouting, ‘He’s out of here!'”
Todd also shared a striking experience from prison when an inmate told him he had been forgiven. Initially skeptical, Todd found confirmation from a prison officer. “He asked me how I was, and I replied, ‘As good as I can be.’ Then he said, ‘You’ve just been forgiven. They sent me here to make sure you’re okay.’ I realized then that I didn’t need to worry anymore.”
The couple was convicted in 2022 on charges including fraud and tax evasion, with the prosecution alleging they scammed banks out of $36 million before achieving fame. While Todd presented himself as a dedicated entrepreneur on their popular show, the Justice Department painted a different picture.
According to their attorney, Alex Little, the Chrisleys submitted their pardon application earlier this year after Trump took office. He emphasized that they never sought assistance from President Joe Biden, claiming they are being unfairly targeted by the current administration.
As for their future, Todd and Julie hinted at possibly returning to television. “Right now, our main focus is reuniting our family and spending time together,” Todd mentioned. “They’ve always been in the public eye, so it wouldn’t be surprising if they find a way to continue that.”
