Controversy Surrounds Mamdani Campaign Staffer
A prominent fundraiser for Zoran Mamdani’s mayoral campaign has drawn scrutiny for previously endorsing a harsh anti-NYPD chant and suggesting that America face repercussions for its wrongdoings. This information comes from recent reports.
Jack Gross, known for his far-left views, is deeply connected to the Democratic Socialists of America in New York City. He has openly praised Marxist ideology online, including comments about Karl Marx himself, a pivotal figure in the history of communism.
Gross raised over $20,000 for Mamdani’s campaign and in a June 2020 social media post, he recounted his experience as a New Yorker, shouting, “The NYPD is my asshole.” This sentiment was a frequent refrain during the protests following George Floyd’s death.
He also expressed a rather strong belief, stating, “We must admit that we believe America is an evil country that should be punished for its crimes.” This statement circulated online several months later, right before his account went quiet.
On social media, Gross has voiced strong opposition to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, even applauding the actions of individuals attempting to evade federal agents.
In addition, he has shared excerpts from literature commemorating Karl Marx Day, which honors the co-author of the Communist Manifesto.
These controversial comments came to light after Gross, a Canadian native, was named to the 20-member Economic and Workforce Development Committee for Mamdani’s transition team last month.
As the editor of Phenomenal World, a left-leaning digital publication, Gross played a significant role in generating substantial funds for Mamdani’s campaign, amassing support from more than 600 donors.
Gross isn’t the only person connected to Mamdani’s transition team facing criticism. Recently, it was revealed that former rapper Mysonne Linen has been appointed to the Criminal Legal System committee. Interestingly, his name was initially overlooked due to a typo.
Similar issues arose with the name of Lumumba Bandele, a known figure with controversial views.
As of now, neither Gross nor Mamdani’s team has provided any comments regarding the emerging concerns.
