Tributes Pour in for Sen. Lindsey Graham Following His Passing
After the announcement of Sen. Lindsey Graham’s death at 71 due to a “short and sudden illness,” many Trump administration officials shared their condolences, calling him a “dedicated public servant” and a “great American and patriot.”
FBI Director Kash Patel, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin were among those who expressed their sympathies on social media, offering prayers for Graham’s family, friends, and colleagues.
Patel remarked, “Senator Lindsey Graham was a dedicated public servant, a passionate defender of our country, and a true patriot who dedicated his life to the people of South Carolina and the United States.” He added that their thoughts were with those grieving during this hard time.
Bessent described Graham as “a great American and patriot,” emphasizing his relentless fight for the people of South Carolina and all Americans. “It was an honor to call him my friend,” he said, noting Graham’s unique ability to discuss both global policy and local issues.
“He will be missed by our state, our nation, and the entire world,” he concluded.
Mullin expressed deep sadness over the loss, remembering Graham’s humor and personality during their time together. “I will always remember our dinner because of Lindsey’s wit,” he noted, adding that he and his wife were praying for Graham’s loved ones.
Former President Donald Trump also reacted, labeling Graham as “one of the greatest men and senators” he had known. “He was always working and a true American patriot. Lindsey will be sorely missed!!!” he wrote on Truth Social.
Graham’s office confirmed his passing on the evening of July 11, stating that he died after a brief illness. They expressed gratitude for the support and requested privacy for the family during this difficult period.
