Trump’s Bold Declaration of New U.S. Territory in the Middle East
At a recent rally, President Donald Trump expressed to his enthusiastic supporters that he intends to declare new U.S. territory in the Middle East once military efforts against Iran are wrapped up.
As for the situation regarding the Strait of Hormuz, it remains uncertain after 167 days since the United States and Israel initiated joint military action targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and leadership.
With a confident demeanor, Trump spoke about his administration’s achievements, then moved on to a surprising announcement regarding the Strait of Hormuz. “We’re cutting prices down a lot. Look what’s happening,” he remarked. “And as soon as we finish defeating Iran, which is currently suffering quite a setback, I will declare the Strait of Hormuz as U.S. territory.” His quip drew laughter and loud applause from the crowd at the Nassau County Police Academy Training and Information Center in Garden City.
“That’s essentially what it is,” he continued. “We have a blockade. No ships can pass through unless we want to.” He also touched on Venezuela, recalling it as a one-day conflict, remarking on the current positive relations with that nation.
The president’s comments were shared widely on social media platforms.
The Strait of Hormuz has usually been regarded as an open thoroughfare, though it is technically bordered by Iran and Oman along its narrowest section.
Control over this strategic strait has become a contentious issue for both Iran and the U.S. administration, as both parties seek a peaceful resolution to end military operations. Despite claims of crippling Iran’s nuclear capabilities, the Islamic regime has set forth demands to be permitted to levy tolls on numerous tankers and vessels traversing this critical trade route.
If the Trump administration were to concede to such requests, it could potentially lead to a flow of tens or even hundreds of billions of dollars to the Iranian regime.
