Trump-Backed GOP Candidate Soars to Victory in Nevada Senatorial Race

Sam Brown, a candidate endorsed by President Trump, won the Nevada Republican Senate primary on Tuesday night.

Brown, who served in Afghanistan, was endorsed by former President Donald Trump on Sunday. received According to the Associated Press, the number of votes was 58,395, with a vote share of 56.9%.

Other candidates such as Jeff Gunter, who served as ambassador to Iceland under the Trump administration, received 16,713 votes (16.3%), and former Nevada Representative Jim Marchant (Republican) received 6,923 votes (6.7%).

“Congratulations to Capt. Sam Brown on his overwhelming primary victory,” Republican National Senatorial Committee Chairman Steve Daines said in a statement. “A West Point graduate, Sam is an American hero who has once again answered the call to serve his country. His support for securing the border and curbing inflation stands in stark contrast to his opponent’s record of endorsing Joe Biden’s disastrous policies.”

Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Sunday: Explained Brown was a “fearless American patriot,” a “Purple Heart recipient” and a man “who demonstrated ‘sheer grit’ and courage in fighting enemies foreign and domestic.”

Gunter has railed against Trump’s support for Brown, calling it a sycophantic scheme. As a young man, Gunter appeared in late-night infomercials promoting anti-wrinkle serums that one man claimed made him sick.

While serving in Afghanistan, Brown was injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion that killed one member of his platoon and injured three others. Brown suffered severe burns all over his body as a result of the IED explosion.

In an interview with Breitbart News, Brown explained that after his injuries, he was “rushed to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.”

“At the time, I believed I would recover for months. I thought, ‘Oh, doctor, just treat me, make me well and return me to my people.’ It took me months to really accept how badly I was. I expected I would recover in a few months, but it took me three years to recover.”

On the Democratic side, first-term Senator Jacky Rosen received 105,833 votes, or 92.4%, while her opponent, Troy Walker, received 3,620 votes, or 3.2%, “any candidate” received 2,590 votes, or 2.3%, and Mike Schafer received 2,470 votes, or 2.2%, of the vote.

Brown will face Rosen in the general election in November.
