Trump Responds to Hunter Biden’s Potential 2028 Run
Recently, President Donald Trump commented on the idea of Hunter Biden possibly running for president in 2028. He suggested that if candidates with scandals—like Maine Senate hopeful Graham Platner—could endure public scrutiny, then perhaps Hunter might have a shot too.
During an exchange with Peter Doocy from Fox News, Trump noted, “Hunter Biden is hinting, maybe jokingly, that he might run for president in 2028. It raises the question: What will he do in the Democratic primary?”
Hunter has been active on social media since May, leading to speculation that he’s preparing to enter the political arena. Trump acknowledged the potential but remarked, “I would say his past is not a great one.”
Trump continued by drawing parallels between Hunter Biden and Platner, saying, “If a guy from Maine can do a good job… then why not Hunter?” He commented about Platner’s controversies, which include a range of issues from allegations of drug use to questionable online conduct. Comparatively, Hunter has his own challenges, including a history of legal troubles culminating in a pardon from his father.
Despite Platner’s controversies, he remains a competitive candidate against incumbent Republican Senator Susan Collins.
Trump also made a comparison to Texas Democratic candidate James Talarico, humorously suggesting that if Talarico could perform well, Hunter Biden could too. “I don’t know, it’s pretty close to that,” he added, leaving the thought somewhat open-ended.
In a separate discussion, Trump addressed questions regarding President Joe Biden’s mental state after the 2024 election. He stated that during their meeting in the Oval Office, he perceived Biden to be the same as ever, dismissing rumors of cognitive decline. “From what I saw, he was fine,” Trump said, before adding that something might have affected Biden during a debate.
Trump concluded by saying Biden “was never the sharpest person,” which adds another layer to their ongoing political dynamics. Fox News Digital made attempts to reach representatives for both Trump and Hunter Biden for further remarks.
