Trump Criticizes NBC and ABC Over Speech Coverage
President Donald Trump took aim at NBC and ABC for their decision not to cover his speech on election integrity held on Thursday night. He expressed frustration, claiming that the networks chose to ignore the topic because they realize how corrupt the system is and, presumably, they don’t want to shed light on it.
“Both NBC and ABC announced they wouldn’t cover this speech, likely because they’re aware of what it entails,” Trump stated. “They don’t like this issue, and it’s clear they’re part of some sort of conspiracy to keep the fraud going. They want to protect the radical left. A country can’t truly thrive without free and fair elections,” he insisted.
Prior to the speech, both networks confirmed that it would only be streamed on their platforms rather than broadcast live. An ABC spokesperson noted that while the speech would be available on ABC News Live and ABC News Radio, they would also incorporate it into their regular news segments, pledging live updates as needed.
NBC announced similar plans, stating they would show the speech live on their streaming service and follow up with a special report afterward.
During the approximately 26-minute address, Trump unveiled findings from a declassified investigation concerning Chinese interference in U.S. voter rolls, instances of non-citizens being included, and vulnerabilities in electronic voting systems. He criticized the Department of Justice for being slow to respond to alleged election fraud in Michigan following the 2020 election. A collection of declassified documents was also made available to the public for review.
The White House’s election integrity website emphasized that maintaining election integrity is crucial for upholding trust in American democracy. It mentioned that after the 2020 presidential election, there were significant concerns that prompted a thorough examination of voting methods and registration processes in several states.
In his remarks, Trump urged the Senate to endorse the SAVE America Act, aiming to bolster U.S. election security against fraud. He argued, “To truly tackle the issue of election security, Congress must pass the SAVE America Act. If fraud isn’t your aim, this should be a no-brainer.” He stressed that every voter should be required to present a photo ID, and “it’s straightforward—just proof of citizenship is all that’s needed.”
