Trump lawyer warns ex-president could be convicted in federal criminal cases

A lawyer recently released on bail representing Donald Trump has warned that the former president “absolutely” could be convicted in any of the federal criminal cases, adding that the charges “should not be taken lightly.” ” he warned.

Joseph Tacopina represented Trump in the Manhattan case, which accused the former president of falsifying business records in connection with payments to porn star Stormy Daniels. But Tacopina suddenly resigned as Trump's deputy on Monday.

On Saturday night, Tacopina gave the “first and only interview” about Trump's surrogates to Al Sharpton on MSNBC's “Politics Nation.”

“I quit the team because it was just my time,” Tacopina said. “I had to follow the compass, which told me my time there was over.”

“There were some things that didn’t work out for me,” he said. “So I didn’t want to continue in that role.”

The lawyer added, “I haven't said anything bad about anybody,” but Sharpton said, “Well, after you appear on my show, Donald Trump might say something bad about you.” Do you know that there isn't?” he countered. Tacopina replied, “It's okay. It's part of the strategy.”

Tacopina said she left the company for “personal reasons” but did not discuss them. He added that he will spend much of this year stuck representing rapper A$AP Rocky, who is accused of firing a semi-automatic handgun at his former friend.

Tacopina pointed out that many of the former president's former lawyers aired dirty content about Trump, but Trump did not. “It's unprofessional, it's boring, and going out there and doing that shows you don't have confidence in yourself.”

Tacopina explained that he doesn't think the hush money lawsuit is a strong case against Trump.

But he cautioned that the federal lawsuits in Georgia and Washington, D.C., are “serious incidents” that “should not be taken lightly.”

Sharpton asked Trump's former lawyer if it was possible for the former president to be convicted, and Tacopina replied, “Is that possible? Absolutely. There are 12 jurors, and ultimately the jury… Jack Smith is a federal prosecutor, and I knew him.'' “This was back in Brooklyn. They're serious prosecutors. This is a federal case and there's a jury.”

Sharpton asked if the lawsuit against Trump was politically motivated, to which Tacopina responded, “Do you think there's a political motive behind this, part of this story? Yes, I do. “Do you think these lawsuits are politically motivated?” The grand jury voted in favor of the indictment, so he'll face juries in Washington, D.C., Florida, Georgia, and New York City, and probably three of those venues aren't very large. I think those are President Trump's venues, right? New York City, Washington DC, and Atlanta. So it's going to be an issue that has to be taken seriously there, and I can't say there's no chance he'll be convicted or there's no chance he'll be sentenced. be done. ”

The attorney added that while prosecutors likely “believe their case,” that “doesn't mean they're right.”

Tacopina has previously represented high-profile clients including rapper Meek Mill, former New York Yankees legend Alex Rodriguez, and Donald Trump Jr.'s fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle.
