President-elect Trump has nominated first-term alumni Alex Wong and Sebastian Gorka to join his national security team for his second go-around.
President Trump said in a statement after taking office that Gorka will serve as deputy chief of staff and senior counterterrorism director, while Wong will serve as chief of staff and national security adviser.
“Since 2015, Dr. Gorka has been a tireless advocate for the America First Agenda and the MAGA movement, and previously served as the President's Strategist in the first Trump administration,” the release states. .
Gorka, who President Trump noted is a “legal immigrant,” has more than 30 years of experience in the national security field. Gorka was born in England.
During President Trump's first term, Wong served as deputy special representative for North Korea. He then served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for East Asia and the Pacific Affairs at the State Department.
President Trump said in a statement that Wong helped broker a summit with Kim Jong Un in North Korea during his first term.
