The Trump organization is suing Capital One because it allegedly banks hundreds of accounts tied to the president's family because it is said to have “wakened” political motivations.
“I can't say how difficult it is to change more than 300 bank accounts, and for no reason,” said Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump organization. Talking to Fox News Digital. “These were hotels and golf courses, residential buildings, commercial buildings, retail stores, skating rinks and parking garages.”
“We had no political affiliation,” he added. “The only common denominator was that they wore the Trump name.”
Capital One claimed it had shut down its Trump-related accounts due to political motivation.
“Capital One has not closed its customer accounts for political reasons, and has not closed it,” the spokesman wrote in a statement.
In March 2021, Capital One notified the Trump organization that its multi-million-dollar bank accounts had been terminated in hundreds of bank accounts, according to a lawsuit filed Friday in Florida's 11th Judicial Circuit.
The bank “did not offer a beg, a relief or alternative. The decision was final,” the lawsuit alleged.
The Trump organization and its holdings accused Capital of shutting down its accounts because of his “awakening” belief that “we need to distance ourselves from President Trump and his conservative political views,” the lawsuit said.

The plaintiffs argued that Capital One is just part of a growing trend among major financial institutions to rob bank clients with conflicting political views.
The lawsuit said the Trump organization is suing Capital One to “shear the light on issues of great public interest and importance.”
Sources have shown to Fox News that Chase, Bank of America and TD Bank have also cut ties with Trump, potentially facing similar legal action in the coming weeks.
Eric, Donald J. Trump's revocable trust, DJT Holdings, DJT Holdings Managing Members, and DTTM Operations also seek attorneys' fees and punitive damages “at the right time.”
The plaintiff requested a ju trial.
