Trump Reveals Melania’s Letter to Putin
President Donald Trump has disclosed a letter written by First Lady Melania Trump to Russian President Vladimir Putin, urging him to end the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. This “peace letter” was hand-delivered by Trump during a summit held in Alaska on Friday.
In her letter, Melania began with a poignant message: “Every child shares the same quiet dreams in their heart, whether born randomly into a nation’s rustic countryside or a magnificent city-center. They dream of love, possibility, and safety from danger.”
She went on to express the collective duty of parents and leaders, stating, “As parents, it is our duty to nurture the next generation’s hope… we must strive to paint a dignity-filled world for all – so that every soul may wake to peace.”
Melania emphasized the plight of children caught in global conflicts, noting, “Yet in today’s world, some children are forced to carry a quiet laughter… Mr. Putin, you can singlehandedly restore their melodic laughter.” She concluded with a call for action, asserting that he could enact this vision “with a stroke of the pen today. It is time.”
After receiving the letter, Putin promptly read it as both American and Russian delegations prepared for peace discussions.
In a conversation with reporters, Trump elaborated on Melania’s motivations for writing the letter, saying, “She’s watched the same things that you watch… and she hates to see something like this happen.” He acknowledged her deep love for children and her sorrow over the ongoing violence.
Trump remarked, “It was a beautiful letter, it was very well received by [Putin]. She asked me to express her desire to see this end.” He mentioned her heavy heart regarding the loss of life and the continuous coverage of funerals associated with the conflict.
Following the summit, Trump described the discussions with Putin as “extremely productive” and indicated his intentions to engage further with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders, meetings that were scheduled for Monday at the White House.
