Trump’s Reaction to Greene’s Resignation

President Donald Trump has expressed strong views following Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene’s announcement of her resignation, labeling her a “traitor.”

On Friday, Greene, a Republican from Georgia, shared a 10-minute video along with a four-page statement revealing that she plans to step down on January 5, 2026, effectively leaving her position midway through her two-year term.

On Saturday morning, the president took to Truth Social to respond.

“Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown, because of PLUMMETING Poll Numbers, and not wanting to face a Primary Challenger with a strong Trump Endorsement (where she would have no chance of winning!), has decided to call it ‘quits,’” Trump stated.

In his comments, Trump consistently referred to Greene with a modified last name, pointing to what he described as “rot.”

“Her relationship with the WORST Republican Congressman in decades, Tom Massie of Kentucky, also known as Rand Paul Jr. because he votes against the Republican Party (and really good legislation!), did not help her,” he continued.

Trump’s statements insinuated that Greene’s struggles stemmed from her inability to maintain communication with him. He also criticized her for what he labeled “wacky” behavior, claiming her actions were excessively negative. Greene, however, rejected his viewpoint, insisting that her grievances over unanswered calls were unfounded.

In her resignation announcement, Greene expressed, “I have too much self-respect and dignity. I love my family way too much, and I do not want my sweet district to have to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the president.”

Meanwhile, Representative Thomas Massie, a colleague of Greene’s, shared sentiment on social media. He said, “I’m sad to see one of my best friends Marjorie Taylor Greene leave Congress. She was one of the brave few who fought with me to release the Epstein files. The threats against us have been insane.”

Trump concluded his remarks about Greene with appreciation for her service, stating, “Nevertheless, I will always appreciate Marjorie, and thank her for her service to our Country!”
