Trump to Address Military Leaders at Quantico

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump is set to speak at a significant gathering of U.S. military commanders held at Marine Corps Base Quantico. This meeting, organized by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, is notable for its size and importance.

Initially, Trump’s attendance wasn’t planned but he expressed a desire to join, aiming to highlight the military’s achievements and deliver an encouraging message to the leaders present.

About 800 high-ranking Generals and Admirals, along with their senior enlisted advisors, have been called together. One stated aim of the event is to discuss advancements within the military and promote a strong “warrior ethos” throughout the armed forces.

Hegseth has been vocal about the necessity for enhanced standards and a revival of core values.

In response to questions about the meeting, Trump remarked, “It’s really just a very nice meeting talking about how well we’re doing militarily, talking about being in great shape, talking about a lot of good, positive things. It’s just a good message.”

He also added, “We have some great people coming in, and it’s just an ‘esprit de corps.’ That’s all it’s about. We’re talking about what we’re doing, what they’re doing, and how we’re doing.”

The meeting will draw Generals and Admirals of one-star rank and higher from across the globe. Secretary Hegseth is expected to present his vision going forward.

Trump expressed support for Hegseth, saying, “Let him be friendly with the Generals and Admirals from all over the world. Isn’t it nice that people are coming from all over the world to be with us?”

This event will take place at Quantico, a military and educational center for both the Marines and the FBI, located around 30 miles from Washington, D.C. The number of participants might exceed 1,000, as noted by Senator Tammy Duckworth, who has raised concerns about the rationale for an in-person gathering, suggesting it could have been done virtually. She also questioned travel costs and the impact of a possible government shutdown on travel.

There are plans to film the meeting, which might be shared with the public later on.
