Trump's Actions Show He Stands by His Words, Deterring China, Russia, and North Korea

CNN Commentary on Geopolitical Strategy

On CNN’s “The Lead” aired on Thursday, Rahm Emmanuel, a senior political and global affairs commentator, expressed his dissent regarding the US president’s stance on certain issues, particularly highlighting the detrimental outcomes he sees.

Emmanuel stated, “In my view, he is one big loser… not just for Iran, but also for Russia. If you look closely, all of their S-300 weapons did not protect Iran. They have shown to be unreliable allies who have failed to defend them. They were driven out of Syria. It’s clear they are embroiled in a conflict beyond their capabilities. Their intelligence failed them regarding Syria, Wagner, and Ukraine. They’ve become overly reliant on China and have lost ground in Europe. Their strategic and military record is poor. If the president pushes this issue, it could not only prolong the conflict but actually fulfill Putin’s ambitions.”

He elaborated, “This situation does not reflect the Persian Empire. Everything the Ayatollah has established over the past 40 years has unraveled. The nuclear program has cost approximately $100 billion. When all options are on the table, and given the current deterrent level, the president’s approach is far from effective. Pushing too hard on Gaza gives leverage that neither side can easily ignore. What do we know that they don’t? What insights do they have that we lack? This isn’t merely about facts; there are deeper issues at play. I think a critical question arises from the deterioration of American intelligence since 2003, notably influenced by the Iraq War. Our understanding has improved in the context of Ukraine, revealing significant insights. Our military actions as a nation were based on foreign intelligence, raising questions about our own information gathering. Overall, it seems we might need to critically re-evaluate our approach.”
