Trump’s Border Czar Responds to Minneapolis Mayor

Tom Homan, known as President Trump’s “border czar,” pushed back against the Democratic mayor of Minneapolis on Fox News Tuesday. The mayor had described ICE raids as “un-American” and harmful to certain communities.

During his appearance on “The Ingraham Angle,” Homan stated, “We will unapologetically enforce the laws of this country, including the Twin Cities.” This vow comes amid rising scrutiny of Minnesota’s visa program.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy raised concerns on Monday, reporting that a recent audit revealed one-third of truck driver’s licenses in the state are illegal. He argued that this situation exemplifies how “foreign nationals are taking advantage of Minnesota’s services.”

According to reports, Minnesota stands to lose as much as $30.4 million in federal highway funding if it doesn’t revoke these licenses within a month.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem also weighed in during a Cabinet meeting, claiming that 50% of visas in Minnesota are “fraudulent.” She asserted that the state has wrongfully admitted individuals who shouldn’t be here.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham pointed out that Minnesota taxpayers are facing significant losses due to a fraudulent scheme involving funds being routed to Somalia’s al-Shabab terrorist group. She pressed Homan about when ICE would intensify its presence in the Twin Cities.

Although Homan couldn’t pinpoint a specific timeline, he did mention that the Trump administration is focusing more efforts on the area. He praised the collaborative efforts of various federal agencies in tackling crime, emphasizing how they will coordinate closely to prosecute illegal activities.

Homan was critical of the Minneapolis Police Chief’s advice to report anyone looking suspicious. He suggested it was counterproductive to the community’s safety efforts and indicated that the Chief should prioritize fostering a partnership with ICE instead.

“Shame on you,” Homan remarked. He emphasized that the primary duty of law enforcement should be public safety and argued that the Chief’s stance is more political than protective.
