President Donald Trump held him first Cabinet meeting During his second term on Wednesday, he discussed a wide range of press topics with the media.
The questions addressed by Trump and his administration had to do with the Russian-Ukraine war, immigration, the cost of living, the fentanyl crisis, Hamas and the integrity of the election.
“We're trying to understand: do they exist?”
Trump has been joined by Vice President J.D. Vance, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnik, U.S. Secretary of Defense, and many other members of his administration (who are still waiting to be confirmed), as well as Elon Musk, who serves as one of the president's top advisors.
After launching a meeting with Prayer, Trump discussed the Ministry of Government Efficiency's efforts to reduce government waste, in order to hand it over to Musk before providing a brief opening statement.

Christopher Bedford, political editor at Blaze News, attended the Cabinet meeting and asked Musk about the emails Doge sent to all government officials. The email asked workers to list five things they accomplished the previous week.
“So far, about half of government officials seem to have responded to requests for what they've been doing last week. Is there a timeline for the next move?” Bedford said: “
“To be clear, I think the email was probably misunderstood as a performance review, but it was actually a Pulse Check review,” Musk replied, giving a few laughs.
“If you have a pulse and two neurons, you can reply to your email. I don't think this is a high bar,” he continued. “Everyone could have achieved this.”
“We literally say, 'Are these people real, are they alive, and can they write emails?” Musk added. “The American people will have that expectation from at least someone in the public sector.”
He explained that there is reason for the government to suspect that some of the federal pay is either dead or fictitious.
Musk added that Doge plans to send another email to government workers, and that his goal is “not whimsical or unfair.”

Musk said the Doge team has become “technical support” to fix the federal government's computer systems.
“Many of these systems are very old. They don't communicate. There are a lot of mistakes in the system. The software doesn't work. It's actually technical support. It's ironic, but it's true.”
“Only interest on national debt exceeds the Department of Defense spending. We spend a lot on the Department of Defense, but we spend more on over a trillion dollars of interest. If this continues, the country will effectively go bankrupt,” Musk said.
He said he is confident that Doge can find $1 trillion in savings.
“Doge is a function that helps the president and institutions and departments achieve these savings,” Musk added.
He explained that the administration must move quickly by fiscal year 2026.
Trump noted that through Doge's efforts, he believes the administration is close to balancing this year, or this year's budget.
He said so far, government workers who refused to respond to Doge's Pulse-Check emails were “bubble.”
“We're trying to understand. Do they exist? Who are they? And there's a chance that a lot of those people could actually be fired,” Trump said. “This country is bloated, fat, I hate it, I run incompetently.”
“I think there was the worst president in our country's history,” he said, referring to former President Joe Biden.
At one point during the Cabinet meeting, Trump indicated that the Environmental Protection Agency may be considering cutting around 65% of its workforce. He also said the person responsible for the failed Afghan withdrawal is likely to face termination.
“We're totally accountable,” added Heggs.
