The Lawrence Tribe, professor emeritus at Harvard University, in CNN’s “Situation Room” on Tuesday insisted President Donald Trump’s actions against Harvard University were out of the “dictator’s handbook” and that Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler liked them.
“Harvard has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, accusing the White House of violating the initial amendment and freeing federal funds to schools,” host Wolf Blitzer said.
He asked, “Please understand the claim that Harvard is making.”
The tribe said, “Well, the basic argument really connects what’s going on here, what’s going on throughout history when dictators, tyrants, and basically leaders like the Mafia decide they don’t really want to independent the university. The nice college you have there is something to be embarrassed if something happens.
He said, “If government allows the government to take over the private institutions that are the centre of innovation, if it is the centre of philosophical progress, a better understanding of history, we will appear in the dictator’s handbook, because that is what dictators want.
