Incoming border czar Tom Homan met with New York City Mayor Eric Adams on Thursday to discuss the city's ongoing immigration crisis and strategies to deport illegal immigrants with the help of the New York City Police Department.
Homan, who served as acting ICE director during President Donald Trump's first term, was appointed by the new president-elect to be the border czar for the incoming administration.
“It went really well,” Homan told Sean Hannity on Thursday night. “Look, I sat with the mayor for over an hour. He gets it. And today he proved that as mayor of New York City, he cares more about public safety than politics. “I wish the Mayor of Chicago and the Sun all the best.'' I would like you to read the scenario of City Council Mayor Diego, Governor Pritzker, and Mayor Eric Adams. ”

Mr. Homan recalled how the “former police officer” emerged from Mr. Adams during a private meeting in New York on Thursday.
“He really cares about public safety and puts politics aside. He wants to help ICE take criminal threats off the streets. He wants to help ICE look for national security threats. He wants to help ICE find more than 340,000 missing children. It's going to be a great meeting.”
“Hats off to the mayor for coming to the table and working with us,” Homan praised.

Homan said other leaders from across the aisle have reached out to him since his meeting with the New York mayor.
“I've been contacted by several other mayors, even Governor Pritzker…he's said he's willing to sit down. So what Mayor Adams did today can only be good for New York City. “I think it's going to be a domino effect,” Homan said. “Seeing today's success, I hope some mayors will come forward.
Homan also noted Adams' desire to “understand” how ICE conducts its operations and how he plans to use the executive order to address some of the “obstacles” facing New York City. He praised his willingness to do so.

“he [Adams] “He told me he was going to consider an executive order to undo some of the damage Mr. de Blasio had done,” Homan said. We hope to arrest the bad guys in the middle of nowhere.” Rather than releasing them into the community and putting the community at risk and putting my officers at risk, I'm putting someone in the community at risk instead of jail. He wants criminal aliens to be released to law enforcement officers in subdivisions, not to the streets. ”
There are about 60,000 'criminal' immigrants in New York City homes: report
Mr. Homan spoke with Mr. Adams about the NYPD's efforts to help locate and apprehend illegal immigrants throughout the city.
“We have a lot of uniformed people in this city who know what's going on in their neighborhoods,” Adams said. “The NYPD has one of the best intelligence agencies in the whole world, and they're going to work with us. So we're going to rely on everyone in uniform in this city to give us information about where the criminals are.” I'm going to rely on you.”
New York City is now home to hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants, including nearly 60,000 “criminal” immigrants, according to a recent report amid growing concerns over safety and resources.

Homan said Laken Riley's name also came up when discussing illegal immigrants roaming New York City.
“Raken Riley's killer was arrested here in New York City on charges of child endangerment. If circumstances had been different, ICE would have detained him instead of releasing him and sent him to Georgia. He could have committed a horrific murder,” Homan said. “So he [Adams] You asked a lot of great questions, and I left the meeting feeling great, so I'm looking forward to continuing the conversation. ”
New York City Mayor Adams meets with Trump border czar: 'We have the same desire' to go after criminal illegal immigrants
After his meeting with Adams, the incoming border czar expressed confidence that New York City is “becoming much safer.”
“I think New York City is trying to send a strong message to the rest of the world that they are taking appropriate steps for public safety, especially for people who should not have been in this country in the first place.” We're going to make New York safer,” Homan vowed.
