Revocation of Security Clearances Announced
WASHINGTON – Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has revealed that 37 security clearances belonging to current and former officials have been revoked. This decision stems from allegations of manipulation and politicization of information, particularly regarding the controversial Obama administration order related to Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election.
An ODNI memo released on Monday detailed that over three dozen intelligence professionals, including former high-ranking aides to Obama’s DNI James Clapper, either neglected to safeguard sensitive information or failed to adhere to established standards.
The memo stated, “The president has mandated that the security clearances of these 37 individuals be revoked immediately.”
“Access to classified systems, facilities, materials, and information will be terminated without delay. Additionally, any contracts or government employment associated with these individuals will also end. They must return any credentials to the relevant security personnel,” it further noted.
Among those affected is Vinne Nguyen, who contributed to the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment, which discussed Russia’s favoritism towards Donald Trump during the 2016 election against Hillary Clinton.
Gabbard commented, “Security clearance is a privilege, not a right. Anyone who betrays their oath to the Constitution and prioritizes personal interests above those of the American public has violated the trust that they swore to uphold.”
She emphasized, “Our intelligence community must remain committed to the values enshrined in the US Constitution.” Gabbard reiterated the importance of focusing on the mission to protect the safety and freedom of the American people.
