TX: James Talarico Deleted Website Mentions of 'Trans Kids'

Texas Democrat James Talarico seems to have revised his website regarding his earlier statements about “transgender children.”

On Tuesday, it was noted that he has altered significant content on his site as he prepares for a Senate run, according to an archived review by a publication.

His state representative website previously claimed he was a former middle school teacher who was “unafraid to stand up to Republican extremism.”

It stated, “I have led the fight against their efforts to bully transgender children, ban books, whitewash history curriculum, water down public education with private school voucher fraud, and impose Christian nationalist policies on Texans.”

In a podcast interview from 2023, Talarico expressed his admiration for transgender kids who demonstrated at the Capitol, saying, “I love the transgender kids… It was inspiring to see.” This sentiment seems to contrast with his more recent opposition to gender reassignment surgery for minors. He had previously voted against a Texas bill that sought to ban specific “sex reassignment” procedures and treatments for children, as reported on June 12.

Talarico argued that based on the Hippocratic Oath, doctors have a “moral obligation” to address gender dysphoria in children. He has regarded the refusal of such treatment as “child abuse.”

RNC spokesperson Zach Kraft commented on his views, labeling Talarico as “a world-class weirdo” focused on inappropriate topics concerning children and criticized his suggestions about suicide.

Talarico previously mentioned on his archived site that he has proposed “ambitious legislation” designed to increase teacher salaries, legalize marijuana, combat climate change, and overturn anti-union laws.

His current webpage paints him as the leader opposing “billionaire mega-donors and puppet politicians” dominating Texas.

Under the “Why I Run” section, Talarico states that Jesus, described as a “barefoot rabbi,” advocated love for God and others, adding it’s time for change.

Interestingly, Talarico refers to women as “neighbors with wombs,” raising questions about how such terminology aligns with progressive ideologies regarding gender identity. This brings into play contradictions, particularly for individuals who may have undergone hysterectomies or identify as women without being biological females.

There seems to be a disconnect between his statements and broader Democratic views, particularly regarding how they represent female identity and the complexities surrounding it. Talarico has previously claimed that displaying the Ten Commandments in schools constitutes an act of “violence” against Judaism and Christianity.

Additionally, Democrats have asserted that the Bible is “silent on abortion.”

Having been elected to the Texas House in 2018, Talarico uses his Christian beliefs to justify support for transgenderism, seemingly contradicting biological definitions of gender. In 2021, he even stated on the House floor that “God is non-binary” while opposing a bill aimed at protecting women’s sports.
