Bad weather reportedly caused a makeshift “floating dock” off the coast of Gaza to collapse on Tuesday, forcing the US to halt aid deliveries.

Earlier this week, four boats that were helping to stabilize the pier broke apart due to rough seas. Despite that, officials insisted afterwards that the pier was still in use. But as of Tuesday, that’s no longer the case, officials said. Fox News Digital.
U.S. officials did not say how long the repairs would take, but NBC News Contacted by reporters, a UN official reportedly claimed it would take at least a week for the repairs to be completed.
The giant floating dock was built at a massive cost of approximately $320 million, funded by President Biden’s administration and U.S. taxpayers.
The system had only been in use for about a week when the damage occurred.
Two of the four stabilization boats that left earlier this week were swept north and washed up on the Israeli coast at Ashdod, while the other two are still anchored on the beach next to the pier.
“The pier was used to deliver approximately 569 tons of aid to the Gaza Strip, but as of last week, the Department of Defense confirmed that none of the aid had been delivered to the Palestinians,” the Pentagon said. Fox News.
The pier’s collapse coincides with Israeli operations in Rafah, with tanks entering the city center for the first time since the start of the war.
