Nurses and midwives in the UK could be banned from practicing medicine if they “misgender” a patient, new guidance from the regulator suggests.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) regulator's guidelines say it has the power to suspend or remove nurses and midwives from the register, effectively banning them from working in the UK. It warns that “misgendering” a patient could lead to sanctions.
Although there are no specific penalties for failing to use a patient's so-called preferred pronouns, the regulator said: according to to daily mail: “The persistent and intentional mischaracterization of a transgender person’s gender violates the Code’s requirement to treat people with kindness and respect.
“Gender-critical beliefs are protected under the Equality Act, but this does not mean that people with gender-critical beliefs cannot be punished for 'misgendering' transgender people. .”
The regulator's latest guidance has raised concerns about the potential risks to patients of adhering to leftist gender theory, with Stella O'Malley, director of medical campaign group Genspect, saying: There is. We need the right to define and even highlight a person's gender, as it can have devastating effects.
“For example, if a transman complains of abdominal pain, a nurse may need to check to see if the biologically female transman may be pregnant,” she said. He further added: One's own biological sex can be a matter of life or death in a hospital setting. ”
Mr O'Malley went on to criticize what the regulator claims is a “belief” that people can change their gender, saying: The world has changed gender. Many people have changed their gender identity, but no one has changed their gender. ”

Matthew McClelland, NMC's executive director of strategy and insight, defended the guidance, saying it was “rooted in the law and will help our colleagues make quick, fair and practical decisions.” It's helpful,” he said.
“While it is clear that people have a right to freedom of expression and protected beliefs, there are circumstances in which what a nurse, midwife or nursing staff member says, and importantly how they say it, may affect their fitness to practice. “It has also become clear that it can have an impact on people,” he added.
British medical institutions have long been at the forefront of the global transgender movement, but there has been a growing backlash against providing so-called gender therapy, particularly to children.
London's Tavistock Center, the UK's main children's transgender clinic, is set to close this year after its practice was deemed not to have patient safety in mind. The clinic has provided “treatment” to approximately 19,000 children since it opened in 1999.
Tavistock has been accused by whistleblowers of trying to advance a political agenda rather than operating in patients' best interests, with former senior staff saying that after just one visit, It reveals that children were often offered life-changing puberty-blocking drugs. . In addition to facing a forced operational closure, Tavistock is also facing a lawsuit from more than 1,000 families accusing the center of misdiagnosing their children as transgender.
But despite Tavistock's planned closure, Britain's socialized National Health Service (NHS) is planning to open small gender clinics for children across the country, with children as young as seven years old planning to open transgender clinics. It reportedly offers gender treatment.
