American gymnast Steven Nedorosik made headlines on Monday as he waited for his chance to secure a spot on the podium with his pommel horse routine in the team final.
At the Olympics, cameras repeatedly showed Nedorosic mentally preparing for his own competition as he watched his teammates Frederick Richard, Brody Malone, Paul Judah and Asher Hong compete in other events. All he needed was the pommel horse.

However, he caught the attention of social media users who took notice of the event.

Nedorosic got the chance to shine on the pommel horse and he delivered, earning 15.166 points.
“Today went really well, I handled the nerves really well,” he said after helping the men’s gymnastics team win bronze, their first medal since 2008. “I’ve been working my whole life for those 45 seconds.”

Nedorosic is scheduled to compete again in the pommel horse final next week.
“It’s just another day of gymnastics,” he said. “Obviously, it’s the biggest stage in the world. It only comes once every four years, but at the same time, I’m still wearing chalk on my hands and I’m performing on a horse for my team. It’s no different.”

He has become the specialist the U.S. men’s gymnastics team has needed for a long time. In 2021, he America’s first gymnast Win a gold medal at the World Championships in pommel horse riding.
