Vandalism Targeting Charlie Kirk Statue
In what some are calling a disturbing act, a new statue of Charlie Kirk was vandalized just days after its unveiling in Phoenix, Arizona. The statue, located at the headquarters of Turning Point USA, was intended to honor Kirk, a conservative activist, on the one-year anniversary of his tragic death at Utah Valley University.
The police received reports about the vandalism over the weekend. The graffiti, done in red spray paint, mimicked the gunshot wound that claimed his life. “It was horrifying,” remarked Tyler Bowyer, the chief operating officer of Turning Point USA. He described how the vandals spray-painted what looked like blood on both the statue and a nearby sign.
Images shared by the organization depicted a striking red “X” marked across Kirk’s face. Andrew Kolvet, a spokesperson for TPUSA, expressed the group’s resolve in the face of this attack. He stated that they would seek out those responsible and ensure they face consequences. “The vast majority of Americans disapprove of this sort of ugliness,” Kolvet said.
“Demons don’t sleep, so we will just have to sleep less. We won’t be cowed. We won’t stop,” he continued passionately, highlighting that every negative act only strengthens their resolve. He mentioned that their community initiatives were seeing a surge in volunteers and that donors were stepping up to help identify those responsible for the vandalism.
TPUSA described the incident as “diabolical,” noting that the name of Jesus Christ was also defaced as part of the graffiti.
In a statement shared on social media, Erika Kirk, Charlie’s widow, reflected on the attack. She quoted her husband’s belief that “for every statue they tear down, we should build two.” Erika expressed that rather than silencing her husband’s message, the violence had amplified it. “Every attempt to undermine what Charlie created only makes us work harder,” she asserted. “We will never give up and never surrender.”
