On Monday, the document was called: dignitas infinita, It means “infinite dignity” in Latin and was released after more than five years of development by the Department for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF).
“In the light of Revelation, the Church categorically and reaffirms the ontological dignity of the human person, created in the image of God and redeemed in Jesus Christ,” the document begins.
The document addresses more than a dozen issues, including abortion, human trafficking, poverty and euthanasia, through the teachings of the pope and scripture.
“With regard to gender theory, whose scientific consistency is the subject of considerable debate among experts, the Church believes that human life is a gift from God in all its aspects, both physical and spiritual. “We recall that,” the document states. “This gift should be received with gratitude and dedicated to good people.Aside from this fundamental truth that human life is a gift, as gender theory dictates, no individual To desire self-determination is to yield to the age-old temptation to make oneself a god and enter into competition with the God of true love revealed to us in the Gospel.”
Pope Francis has previously said that gender ideology is one of the world’s “most dangerous ideological colonizations.”
“Another striking aspect of gender theory is that it attempts to deny the greatest possible difference between organisms, the sex difference. It is not only the most beautiful and the most powerful difference. In the couple of a man and a woman, this difference makes possible the most wonderful mutual relationship. It is thus a miracle that never ceases to amaze us – to the world. will be the source of the arrival of new humans,” the document continues.
After months of revision, Pope Francis finally said: dignitas infinita The green light will be released on March 25thth. The document was presented by Cardinal Victor Manuel Fernández, head of the DDF, at a press conference in Vatican City on Monday.
The document details the church’s long-standing ethical critique of surrogate pregnancies, which it claims contradicts its pro-life position, while restating the church’s teaching on abortion.
“The Church also opposes the practice of surrogacy, where a very valuable child becomes a mere object,” the document states. “First and foremost, surrogacy violates the dignity of the child. In fact, every child has an invisible dignity, and that dignity extends from the moment of conception, through birth, growing up as a boy or girl, and into adulthood. “It is articulated at every stage of life, even in unique and differentiated ways, until adulthood.” the State Department wrote in the document. “By virtue of this inalienable dignity, children have a fully human (not artificially induced) origin and have the right to receive the gift of life, which shows the dignity of both giver and receiver. I have.”
Surrogacy through in vitro fertilization typically involves the artificial fertilization of multiple human embryos, some of which are often later frozen or destroyed.
The Catholic Church states that human life, regardless of developmental stage or life situation, must be protected and cherished from the moment of conception until natural death.
They have also expressed serious concerns about the global surrogacy industry, in which wealthy European couples pay poor women in third world countries to carry their unborn children to term.
“Although not comprehensive, the themes discussed in this declaration have been selected to illuminate various aspects of human dignity that may be obscured in the consciousness of many people. ” the text says. “Some topics resonate more in some sectors of society than others. Nevertheless, they all seem to us to be necessary because, taken together, , because it helps us recognize the harmony and richness of ideas about human dignity that flow from the Gospel.” “This Declaration is not intended to cover such a rich and important subject. Instead, its purpose is to recognize the importance of human dignity in the complex historical moment in which we live. This is to offer some reflections that will help us maintain awareness of the fact that amidst the numerous concerns and anxieties of our time, we can lose our way and expose ourselves to further hurt and deep suffering. This is to make sure it doesn’t happen.”
