Venezuelan Immigrant Charged in Stabbing Incident on Long Island Beach

This week, a Venezuelan immigrant was charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a man on a Long Island beach notorious for its connection to suspected serial killer Rex Heuerman.

Reports indicate that Ruben Guanipa Ramirez, 26, supposedly picked up an acquaintance in Queens, drove her to Gilgo Beach for a game of pool, and then continued to Jones Beach last month, where things took a violent turn. Prosecutors say that after a struggle, he attempted to kill her.

Interestingly, this same beach is where Heuerman, an architect from Manhattan, is accused of murdering seven sex workers over a twenty-year span, leaving their bodies behind. Law enforcement has mentioned that Heuerman is likely to plead guilty to those killings soon.

The Suffolk County District Attorney, Raymond Tierney, commented that the evidence against Ramirez raises “serious questions” about his intentions that night.

According to the prosecution, Ramirez originally picked up the victim in a 2024 Lexus NX250 and they first visited a billiards hall before heading to the infamous beach.

At Gilgo Beach, it’s alleged that Ramirez became violent as they returned to their car. He reportedly approached her from behind, blocked her mouth with a cloth, and slashed her with a knife.

Ramirez didn’t stop there — he attempted to slit her throat. Luckily, the victim managed to fight back, but she sustained an injury to her hand during the struggle.

Eventually, she escaped and drove to a friend’s house in Queens to call 911 for help.

Later that day, authorities arrested Ramirez after they found him walking along the Long Island Expressway in Nassau County.

“This defendant allegedly drove a male acquaintance to a secluded beach and then attacked him from behind with a knife,” District Attorney Tierney stated. He emphasized that the evidence found in Ramirez’s car raised further questions about what might have been planned for that night.

Law enforcement located the bloody knife used in the attack along with two other knives, rope, duct tape, plastic clothing, a large bag, gloves, and a box cutter knife. Ramirez now faces charges of second-degree murder and assault. He was arraigned on Tuesday and is being held on a $200,000 bail.

It’s still uncertain whether Ramirez is in the U.S. legally, and if convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison.
