Ohio High School Discovers Venezuelan Student’s True Identity
Authorities in Ohio have reported that a 17-year-old Venezuelan immigrant student is actually a 24-year-old illegal immigrant. The individual, identified as Anthony Emmanuel Labrador Sierra, was arrested on Monday in Perrysburg for identity fraud, according to a police report.
Labrador Sierra reportedly overstayed his work visa, is a father, and managed to pose as a minor. He had been attending a local high school for over a year before his true age was uncovered.
In November 2023, Labrador Sierra approached the school to enroll, claiming he was homeless and a victim of trafficking. He provided a Venezuelan birth certificate dated December 2, 2007, to complete his registration.
By January 2024, not only had he been accepted into the school, but he also found temporary housing with a local family that had experience fostering children. This family eventually gained permanent guardianship and helped him secure a Social Security number and an Ohio driver’s license.
It wasn’t until May 14, 2025, that questions about his real identity came to light. A family member contacted a woman named Evelyn Camacho, who revealed that Labrador Sierra was actually 24 years old and the father of her child. Evidence shared among them included Facebook photos that confirmed their relationship.
A police investigation uncovered further details, revealing that Labrador Sierra’s vehicle was registered under his actual driver’s license, which indicated he was born in March 2001. The Border Patrol confirmed that his work visa expired in 2023, classifying him as a domestic overstayer.
Currently, Labrador Sierra is being held by the Wood County Sheriff’s Office on forgery charges with a bond set at $50,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 29.
While Immigration and Customs Enforcement has not yet provided comments, Border Patrol is reported to be preparing to place him on hold for immigration matters. If taken into custody, there is a strong likelihood he would face deportation. The situation comes amid increased immigration enforcement activities since the recent change in administration.
