Vice President J.D. Vance and Second Lady Usha visited Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Wednesday to honor the victims of last week’s tragic shooting at Announcement Catholic School.

The Vice President’s office indicated that they would hold several private meetings with families affected by this tragedy.

In this horrific event, ten-year-old Harper Moysky and eight-year-old Fletcher Merkel lost their lives when 23-year-old shooter Robin Westman barricaded a church door, setting it ablaze and then turning the gun on the victims.

More than twelve other children and adults sustained injuries during the shooting, which unfolded while many were praying at Mass.

Westman’s disturbing manifesto included anti-Semitic sentiments and anti-Israel language, alongside a chilling note that read “Kill Donald Trump” found among his gun magazines.

Identifying as transgender and indicating struggles with gender identity, Westman had expressed feeling “trans tired” in a video he shared online prior to the attack.

Following the shooting, Vice President Vance criticized left-leaning politicians who attacked those praying for the victims. He posted on X, saying, “It’s shocking that so many left-wing politicians attack prayer following a tragedy. No one thinks prayer alone replaces action.” He added, “We pray because we have broken hearts and believe God is listening.”

In the wake of the incident, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey emphasized the importance of recognizing that the victims were genuinely praying when the shooting occurred.
