The White House is looking into reports about the deaths and disappearances of several U.S. scientists and government personnel who had access to sensitive nuclear and space data.

When asked about a possible connection to these incidents, President Donald Trump commented on Thursday, “I hope it’s a coincidence, but we’ll find out in the next week and a half. I just left a meeting about it. It’s pretty serious,” as reported by Live Now Fox.

Among those missing is 68-year-old retired Air Force Maj. Gen. William “Neil” McCasland, who vanished from his parents’ home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in February, according to FOX News.

Throughout his career, McCasland managed advanced and sensitive military research programs. He left his cell phone behind when he disappeared, but his wallet and .38 caliber revolver were missing, the outlet added.

Investigators mentioned that the general had previously expressed experiencing a “mental fog,” yet authorities noted there were no indications of confusion at the time of his disappearance.

Albuquerque Police Lt. Kyle Wood remarked on March 16: “He’s still, without a doubt, the most intelligent person in the room.”

The McCasland case is part of a larger investigation involving ten scientists connected to U.S. military or government research.

Audio from McCasland’s wife, Susan Wilkerson, recorded a desperate plea: “My husband is missing, and I think he must have planned to never be found,” as reported by NBC News.

FOX News’ Peter Doocy recently questioned White House press secretary Caroline Levitt about the incident.

“There are currently 10 American scientists missing or dead since mid-2024. All of them are said to have had access to classified nuclear and aerospace materials. Is anyone looking into this to see if there is a connection between these things?” he asked.

Levitt responded, “I’ve seen that report, Peter. I haven’t spoken to the authorities about it. I’m sure I will, and we’ll get an answer. If it’s true, then I think that’s definitely something this government would consider worth investigating.”

Before his disappearance, McCasland was in charge of a classified program “related to UFO research,” reported NewsNation, where he also raised concerns about possibly being targeted for his work.

A former colleague of McCasland also vanished in 2025 under “strange circumstances,” noted Elizabeth Vargas from the outlet.
