Walmart cutting hundreds of corporate jobs, asking remote workers to return to office: report

Walmart is cutting hundreds of office workers and remote workers are being asked to return to the office, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

The U.S. retailer has ordered employees from its offices in Dallas, Atlanta and Toronto to work at Walmart’s headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas, and its northeast office in Hoboken, New Jersey, the newspaper reported, citing people familiar with the matter. , or to relocate to a central location in Southern California. The company plans to allow so-called hybrid schedules, allowing employees to work remotely part-time as long as they are in the office for the majority of their workweek.

Walmart announced that employees affected by future health center closures will be eligible to transfer to other Walmart or Sam’s Club stores. Walmart said it would pay employees for 90 days unless they transfer to another store or quit within that period.
