The New Tolerance Campaign (NTC), a watchdog group that aims to mobilize Americans to “confront the double standard of intolerance,” is providing $1 million to support an LGBTQ+ pride parade in the Palestinian Territories.
NTC takes bold action Pledged $1 million for an LGBTQ+ pride parade in the Gaza Strip or the West Bank. The offer, which the group has repeatedly said is not a joke or a “propaganda stunt,” is aimed at Queers for Palestine and other groups that say Hamas and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) are inclusive of LGBTQ+ rights.
“Now is their chance to prove it,” the watchdog group argued.
The NTC's challenge puts these claims to the test, noting that there is a “clash of values between Israel and most countries in the Arab world” and aims to highlight the differences in the treatment of LGBTQ+ people in Israel and the Palestinian territories.
Gregory T. Angelo, chairman of the NTC and former head of the Log Cabin Republican Party, called the effort a “wake-up call” for those who align with the “queer for Palestine” and “gay for Gaza” movements.
“Please don't take this campaign lightly as just a publicity stunt or a comedy,” he said. said Fox News Digital. “This is actually a legitimate offer.”
On Monday, the NTC launched a mobile advertising campaign at universities including Columbia University and UCLA, and near the Human Rights Campaign headquarters in Washington, D.C., urging advocacy groups to take up the challenge.
The NTC said the event could be an important step in promoting LGBTQ+ rights in the Arab world, where homosexuality remains a criminal offense in many countries.
The NTC has consistently pointed out the stark contrast regarding LGBTQ+ rights between Israel, where gay people can live openly, and many Arab countries where such freedoms are severely restricted or illegal. The NTC argues that this new effort could promote tolerance and greater liberalization in the Arab world and lead to broader peace initiatives.
Supporters hope the challenge will raise awareness of the challenges LGBTQ+ people face in the region and encourage greater acceptance, but such a parade would be virtually impossible to organize in the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, both of which are under Palestinian Authority control.
Dr. Jordan Peterson, a clinical psychologist and best-selling author, called “Queers for Palestine” a “staggeringly incomprehensible spectacle” and a “suicidal act,” as well as evidence of the lengths the left will go “to destroy everything the West has value.”
Additionally, world-renowned military historian and professor Dr. Victor Davis Hanson attention Hamas' “death cult” relies on “useful Western idiots” to support the Palestinian cause, and it has “fused with left-wing DEI” [diversity, equity, and inclusion] industry.”
“Hamas thus becomes the Middle Eastern equivalent of BLM, victimized minorities, and, more absurdly, the trans/gay/feminist movements,” he explained, “while Israelis are reconstituted as demonized Western 'colonialist' white supremacists.”
