Well-known Bay Area NBC sports host reveals unexpected departure from station

NBC Sports Bay Area is bidding farewell to another familiar personality.

Carlos Ramirez shared on Sunday that he is leaving the regional sports network after a span of four and a half years. His announcement marks a significant departure from the station.

Ramirez expressed, “It’s hard to explain in words what the past four and a half years have meant to me.” He shared his thoughts in a post on social media.

“I have had the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream of working alongside some of the most talented people in sports media and calling the Bay Area home.”

Initially, Ramirez was a regular presence on the network’s coverage of San Francisco Giants games, but his role has shifted over time. Recently, he became the primary host for the San Francisco 49ers’ studio show.

Since officially joining the network in 2022, he has also contributed to the coverage of the Sacramento Kings and Athletics.

Known for his bilingual reporting, Ramirez often interviewed Spanish-speaking players during broadcasts.

According to his LinkedIn, he also serves as a play-by-play announcer for the San Jose Earthquakes and covers Major League Soccer on Apple TV.

While he didn’t specify his next move, he hinted that another opportunity is in the works, stating, “A new chapter has begun and I can’t wait to share more details about it with you soon.”

His departure comes shortly after fellow NBC Sports Bay Area personality Laura Britt left, having announced her retirement in March 2026 and stepping down in May. She concluded her eight-year tenure as the lead anchor for the Giants, stating her intent to move to Atlanta to be closer to family.

With Ramirez’s exit, the remaining full-time studio hosts at NBC Sports Bay Area are Kylen Mills, covering the Giants, and Vonta Hill, who serves as the multiplatform host covering the Golden State Warriors, San Francisco 49ers, and Giants.
