Butler County Property Tax Update

Nancy Nicks, the Butler County Auditor, emphasized the importance of keeping voters informed prior to decisions that could impact property taxes. She also encouraged residents to reach out to local officials with any questions, noting that there might be no additional costs involved, and some collections could potentially be removed.

The Butler County Election Board is set to oversee the general election on November 4th, featuring several key proposals:

  • Butler County Senior Services: This measure aims to renew a 1.3 mil tax for five years, with an increase of 0.7 mil. This change would raise the tax from $26 to $51 per $100,000 in property value.
  • Lakota Regional School District: A bond issue is on the table, totaling 4.99 mil across $506 million, reflecting an asset value of $174.65 per $100,000. This bond would be collected over 37 years. Additionally, there’s a 0.95 mil tax for permanent improvements, which would add $33.25 per $100,000, making a total expected tax liability of $208 annually per $100,000 in property value.
  • Madison Regional School District: This item is a renewal of a 3.96 mil tax, collected over ten years, with no new costs for property owners.
  • Hanover Township Fire District: An additional 3.5 mil fire tax would add $122.50 per $100,000, to be gathered for five years.
  • Milford Township: This initiative proposes a 1.85 mil EMS tax, costing $64.75 per $100,000, also to be collected for five years.
  • Morgan Township: This is a renewal for a five-year, 2.75 mil fire tax with no extra fees for homeowners.
  • Ross Township Fire District: An additional 6.5 mil tax would total $227.50 per $100,000 in property value and will be a continuous collection.
