New Movie “Deep Cover” Now Streaming on Amazon Prime Video

Contrary to what the title might suggest, the new film “Deep Cover” isn’t a remake of the 1992 crime drama featuring Laurence Fishburne. Instead, this fresh action comedy features a trio of improvisational comedians who find themselves taking part in police work. It stars Blythe Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom, and Nick Mohammed, and really, who better to tackle spontaneous challenges than improvisers?

Directed by Tom Kingsley and scripted by Colin Trevorrow, Derek Connolly, Ben Ashenden, and Alexander Owen, “Deep Cover” premiered today on Amazon Prime as part of a streaming subscription. The impressive cast also includes Paddy Considine, Ian McShane, and Sean Bean—though you’ll have to watch the film to find out if Sean Bean makes it through unscathed.

Despite its somewhat ominous title, “Deep Cover” is actually more of a lighthearted romp. It explores the lengths to which the characters will go to secure a gig—after all, the entertainment industry has its challenges! The film was shot in various locations throughout the UK.

Filming took place in London, specifically at London North Studios and in nearby areas.

As shared in Instagram posts by Bryce Dallas Howard, much of the shooting occurred in Shoreditch, a trendy district located in London’s East End.

Other filming spots included a neighborhood corner store in Hackney, where the main trio humorously searches for illicit drugs while trying to negotiate better prices with store owners.

In an interview, director Tom Kingsley highlighted the significance of the filming locations. He noted, “The comedy in this film comes from the tension of incompetent characters placed in genuinely dangerous situations. So, it was essential for our settings to feel authentic and not just like a staged set or a postcard view of London. We aimed for locations that reflected real-life grit, including dirt and graffiti.”

So there you have it! “Deep Cover” is set against the backdrop of real London, adding an authentic twist to this British comedy.
