A horrifying attempted rape was caught on video in which a woman was choked and nearly dragged down a Bronx sidewalk by a stranger, police said.
The assailant, identified by the NYPD on Monday as Miguel Rivera, 45, crept up behind the 26-year-old victim as he walked on the sidewalk at Vireo Avenue and East 235th Street in the Woodlawn Heights neighborhood around 1:30 a.m. on May 24, police said.
According to police and disturbing surveillance footage, Rivera then put his arms around the woman’s neck and, without saying a word, pushed her to the sidewalk. Obtained by News 12.
The victim fought off the violent pervert, who remained at large on Tuesday.
Authorities say Rivera was seen on foot during the incident as News 12 filmed, then fled on a blue scooter.
Police said the victim suffered minor abrasions and refused medical treatment at the scene.
The attack comes just weeks after two other shocking sexual assaults in the Bronx.
According to police, on May 18 at around 5pm, a 15-year-old girl fought off a fleeing pervert who was attempting to rape her in a wooded area of Pelham Bay Park.
In a separate incident captured on video on May 1, Kashan Parks, 39, is accused of tying a 45-year-old woman from behind with a belt, dragging her until she was unconscious, then forcing her between two parked cars at East 152nd Street and Third Avenue in the South Bronx and raping her, police said.
