Hope for Young Men Rejecting Pornography
Young men might be starting to resist a toxic addiction that hampers their lives.
The widespread availability of online pornography is one of the more troubling aspects of contemporary society. It’s almost everywhere—accessible not just on dedicated adult sites or OnlyFans, but also on social media platforms like Instagram and X. It’s a far cry from the days of sneaking a peek at Uncle Jim’s Playboy under the bed.
Pornography can be deeply addictive, often leaving men feeling drained and disempowered. It can turn them into individuals who prefer to spend their evenings glued to a screen rather than engaging with people, whether it’s striking up a conversation at a bar or forming meaningful relationships. Even for those in relationships, porn addiction can gradually erode the connection with their partner.
However, there might be a glimmer of hope for the younger generation.

A recent survey reveals that an increasing number of young men aged 18-24 are in favor of imposing stricter regulations on porn. About 65% of them believe access should be restricted more than it currently is. Similarly, among men aged 25-34, 50% support increased restrictions.
Middle-aged men have varied views, but a significant majority of men over 55 advocate for limitations. Women across all age groups, unsurprisingly, overwhelmingly support more regulations.
The strong support among young men for restrictions is encouraging. It suggests they recognize the harm caused by porn. Despite assertions from certain liberals, unconventional health educators, and eccentric college instructors arguing otherwise, many young men see the negative effects of porn on both mental and physical health, as well as its moral implications.
Personally, I would prefer to see the entire porn industry vanish—just wipe it out completely. While that’s unlikely to happen, implementing stricter regulations seems like a step in the right direction.
