Youngkin amends ‘skill games’ measure, proposing far stricter standards 

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) has proposed stricter standards for a “skill games” bill aimed at regulating and taxing arcade-like machines in the state.

In a flurry of legislative action on Monday, Yonkin amended the “games of skill” bill the General Assembly sent to him in March. The bill would legalize and tax “games of skill,” which are said to be similar to slot machines but require an element of skill.

Supporters of the bill argue that regulating and legalizing the machines could lead to increased profits for small businesses such as convenience stores, restaurants and gas stations.
