Youngkin criticizes Virginia Democrat's proposal to end cooperation with ICE

Virginia Gubernatorial Race Heats Up

Virginia’s Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin is cautious about his attempt to portray his opponent, Democrat Abigail Spanberger, as a centrist. As the race for the gubernatorial seat intensifies, Youngkin faces significant challenges in securing a successor.

On “Fox & Friends,” Youngkin stated, “She’s an extreme left liberal. She’s free and she’s not saying anything yet, so I present that she’s packaged as a moderate.” Spanberger, a former lawmaker and CIA officer, has revealed plans to revoke an executive order aimed at assisting Virginia law enforcement in managing federal immigration enforcement actions.

Youngkin emphasized a strong relationship with the Trump administration, noting, “We have arrested over 4,000 illegal immigrants in Virginia. The first thing that MS-13, members of Tren de Aragua, and others doing terrible things want to do is overturn my executive order. This is her, and don’t believe she is a moderate for a moment.”

Spanberger’s Campaign Focus

Reports have described Spanberger as a “center-left” Democrat, with some sources from the Washington Post labeling her as a “Centrist.” Meanwhile, Youngkin is backing Republican Lieutenant Colonel Winsome Earle-Sears as she challenges Spanberger in the upcoming election.

Currently, Spanberger leads in the polls, though recent data indicates that Earle-Sears is narrowing the gap. Youngkin remarked on the enthusiasm surrounding Earle-Sears’s campaign, saying, “I was campaigning with her yesterday. The crowd is huge. The enthusiasm is high.”

Fox News Digital reached out to the Spanberger campaign for a comment on Youngkin’s assertions but did not receive a quick response. The political atmosphere is evidently vibrant, with both candidates aiming to sway voters as the election approaches.
