Zelensky attempting to disrupt Trump-Putin meeting with drone attacks on Russia

Greene Accuses Zelensky of Sabotaging Trump-Putin Meeting

Georgia Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG) has raised serious concerns about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s actions leading up to a crucial meeting in Alaska between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. She claims Zelensky’s recent drone strike against Russia was an attempt to disrupt these high-stakes discussions.

Just before the meeting, Ukraine reportedly claimed responsibility for a significant long-range drone attack on the Russian supply ship Port Olya-4 near Astrakhan. The ship was believed to be carrying parts and munitions related to Iranian drones, underscoring Ukraine’s ongoing deep-penetration strikes within Russian territory.

A post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, by Open Source Intel highlighted Zelensky’s decision to carry out what it described as “one of Ukraine’s largest drone attacks” against Russia shortly before the talks.

In her reaction, Greene expressed her disapproval through another post:

“On the eve of the historic peace talks between President Trump and President Putin, Zelensky does this,” she stated. “Zelensky doesn’t want peace and is clearly trying to sabotage President Trump’s heroic efforts to end the war in Ukraine.”

She concluded with, “I pray peace prevails!”

Greene has been vocal about her discontent with U.S. involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict during both the Trump and Biden administrations. Last month, she made a point on X, saying, “MAGA did not vote for more weapons to Ukraine.”

Additionally, in another post, Greene cautioned that “if the Republicans don’t start putting their 2024 America First campaign promises into real serious actions and STOP VOTING TO FUND EVERY FOREIGN COUNTRY AND EVERY FOREIGN WAR, don’t be surprised when those precious voters sit it out or skip R’s on the ballot.”

Following this, Ukraine initiated multiple drone assaults overnight, targeting several apartment buildings in Rostov-on-Don, resulting in injuries to over a dozen civilians, with two individuals reported in critical condition, according to local acting governor Yuri Slyusar.

As per Sky News, Ukrainian authorities indicate that they will continue their long-range attacks on Russia “until Moscow agrees to peace.”

Trump’s first visit with Putin since taking office for a second time is set to happen at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. There had been discussions regarding whether Zelensky would participate in the summit, but Trump eventually decided that Zelensky’s presence wasn’t essential for this round of discussions. Notably, the Ukrainian leader will not be part of these negotiations.

However, analysts believe Zelensky will be monitoring the meeting closely. He has already shared various updates on social media, reiterating his stance against Putin.

“On the day of negotiations, the Russians are killing as well. And that speaks volumes. Recently, we’ve discussed with the U.S. and Europeans what can truly work. Everyone needs a just end to the war,” Zelensky stated.

Nevertheless, he emphasized that “Ukraine is ready to work as productively as possible to bring the war to an end, and we count on a strong position from America. Everything will depend on this – the Russians factor in American strength. Make no mistake – strength.”

The meeting is scheduled to take place at approximately 3:30 p.m. ET.
