Zelensky Offers To Swap Captured North Korean Soldiers For Ukrainian Soldiers Held In Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has announced that he is willing to exchange captured North Korean soldiers for Ukrainian soldiers held in Russia.

President Zelenskiy's announcement came after it was revealed that two wounded North Korean soldiers had been captured in Russia's Kursk region and taken to Kiev for interrogation.

“This was not an easy task,” Zelenskiy said. “Russian and other North Korean military personnel typically execute wounded people to erase evidence of North Korean involvement in the war against Ukraine.” Ta.

“I have instructed the Security Service of Ukraine to allow journalists access to these prisoners. The world needs to know the truth about what is happening,” he added.

Meanwhile, neither North Korea nor Russia has publicly acknowledged that they are sending North Korean troops to Russia to fight Ukraine.

The Pentagon also authorized the deployment of North Korean troops to Russia last October, ultimately claiming that about 10,000 soldiers were sent to train there for the war effort.

President Zelenskiy also posted photos of North Korean soldiers and an interrogation video in which one of the soldiers said he would like to live in Ukraine if given the chance.

Another captured soldier was seen with a bandage on his jaw and claimed he wanted to return to North Korea to be with his family.

Additionally, South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun recently expressed concern that North Korea is “very likely” offering advanced nuclear technology in exchange for soldiers contributing to Russia's war effort.

Ukraine estimates that more than 3,000 North Korean soldiers were killed or injured during the fighting, but an anonymous US official claimed that “several hundred” North Korean soldiers were killed during the fighting. Reported. CNN.
