Ukraine’s Call for U.S. Pressure on Russia
On Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s advisor, Andriy Yermak, urged that President Trump must apply “real pressure” on Russia, noting that Kremlin forces appear unyielding in their attacks on civilian areas. It seems they have no plans to stop, which is really concerning.
“Russia is not indicating any willingness to cease hostilities,” Yermak mentioned in a statement. “If the U.S. can leverage its power and international standing to genuinely influence Moscow, we would greatly appreciate it.” This, he posited, could bring peace not just to Ukraine but also benefit Europe and the globe in the long run.
Yermak’s remarks came after General Keith Kellogg, a former U.S. official, visited Kyiv for discussions with Zelensky and other leaders. “These meetings demonstrate our high-level engagement, and we are thankful to the U.S. President for his efforts to end the violence and seek lasting peace,” he added.
During Kellogg’s visit, Yermak highlighted that he had been thoroughly briefed by military and security officials. They explored Ukraine’s defense capabilities, including air defense mechanisms and drone strategies, stressing the need for urgent improvements.
Yermak stated, “This visit shows our partners are seriously considering how to turn our vision for safety into reality. It’s critical to focus on modern air defenses right now.” He underscored that as Russia continues to escalate military actions against Ukrainian cities, securing the skies is essential to protect civilian lives.
