Pat Green Organizes Relief Concert After Family Tragedy

Country singer Pat Green is stepping up to help others despite facing personal grief. This month, he lost his brother and two nephews in a devastating flood in central Texas. In response to the tragedy, Green has arranged a relief concert aimed at supporting those impacted by the disaster.

“Our goal is to help Kerr County,” Green mentioned shortly before the concert. “What I can do for others is to direct these funds to support the kids affected by these terrible losses.”

While Green’s niece survived, he mourns deeply for his brother John, his sister-in-law Julie, and their sons. It’s, um, a painful situation that he understandably prefers not to dive too deep into. “I don’t want to start crying again,” he confessed. “But I keep thinking about my parents,” he added, expressing concern for their well-being amid this heartache.

Reflecting on the harsh reality of losing loved ones, he shared, “It’s something you just can’t process. Watching your child suffer, it’s beyond comprehension.” He mentioned that there are “good days and bad days” as he navigates through his family’s loss.

Supporting Those Affected by the Floods

Green recalled a moment during the floods that was both surreal and heartbreaking. He vividly remembers seeing his brother carrying some belongings in distress. “I was just thinking, ‘That’s my brother.'” More than anything, though, his thoughts drift to his parents, mourning their lost children and grandchildren.

As he prepares for the concert, Green found it helpful to momentarily step away from his sorrow. “It’s a small distraction, but it helps me cope a bit,” he noted. He emphasized the importance of the support he’s felt from the community and those around him.

The concert, which will be live-streamed on YouTube, features a lineup of prominent country artists, including Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley, all coming together to raise funds for relief.

“I’ve never seen Texas unite like this,” Green expressed with a hint of disbelief. He thanked both his peers and the community for stepping up in such a tough time. “The response has been incredible,” he said. “It’s not just about those who passed but also about those who continue to live and be affected by this.”

The concert is scheduled to air on a local Wednesday evening, encouraging viewers to donate through various platforms to support flood victims. Green hopes to harness the spirit of Texas in order to bring light to a dark situation, aiming to raise substantial funds for those in need.
