Kristi Noem Lowers Age Limit for ICE Agents to Boost Trump's Deportation Plans

DHS Announces End to Age Cap for ICE Applications

In an interview with Fox & Friends, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem shared that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) has eliminated the age cap for executive applications.

Noem encouraged viewers to consider applying for positions at ICE. The department is aiming to significantly increase its workforce, having seen a considerable spike in recruitment since the passage of President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful” bill last July. It’s worth noting that there’s a target of 10,000 new hires, which is a huge jump in numbers.

“We’ve removed the age barrier, so now there are no limitations on age,” Noem stated. “Our efforts to recruit 10,000 new ICE officers have been remarkably successful.”

She mentioned that they already have more than 80,000 applicants vying for these positions, and the level of interest among people and patriots, as she described it, is impressive, albeit overwhelming.

On Wednesday, DHS introduced a news release noting that this decision means more patriots can now participate in ICE’s mission to apprehend serious offenders like murderers, gang members, and individuals who are in the country illegally.

“In light of the ongoing issues at the border, we need dedicated Americans to help eliminate the worst elements in our society,” the release continued.

The recruitment efforts for the 10,000 agents specifically seek deportation officers, criminal investigators, and general prosecutors.

Alongside lifting the age cap, several incentives have been announced, such as signing bonuses of up to $50,000, options for student loan exemptions, and robust retirement benefits.

DHS Deputy Secretary Tricia McLaughlin suggested in a post that this move indicates that DHS is receptive to concerns expressed by Americans. ICE also reacted positively, stating, “You spoke, we listened, we took action, and we are committed to protecting our communities.”

Notably, this announcement follows comments from former Border Patrol Chief Tom Homan, who noted that ICE is expelling more than 300,000 individuals illegally residing in the country this year. The backdrop to these recruitment efforts includes a tough approach against illegal immigration, as well as protests aimed at ICE agents in major cities.

Despite the criticism, ICE has reportedly made significant inroads in identifying and apprehending undocumented criminals who had previously evaded detection during President Joe Biden’s administration.
