Tennessee National Guard Mobilized for Immigration Enforcement
Governor Bill Lee of Tennessee has instructed the National Guard to assist in addressing issues that have hindered the deportation of undocumented immigrants.
According to information from Lee’s office, the governor is seeking support from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) to advance President Trump’s immigration policies.
“As Governor Lee has stated repeatedly, Tennessee is prepared to back President Trump’s initiatives aimed at securing our borders and removing dangerous criminals from our communities,” said Elizabeth Johnson, a spokesperson for Lee, as reported by WKRN-TV.
Johnson further explained, “The governor has authorized the deployment of Tennessee National Guards in response to a request from the Department of Homeland Security. Their role will focus on managing and providing administrative support at ICE processing facilities within the state. This assistance includes tasks such as data entry, case management, and logistical support.”

Lee emphasized the importance of addressing criminal activity, saying, “America wants assurance that criminals, particularly those who are undocumented, as well as drug and human traffickers, are being apprehended and removed.”
Reports indicate that the guards assigned to ICE will work on identifying and managing individuals who can be deported from detention. They are also positioned to assist in identifying individuals at DUI checkpoints and can directly communicate with ICE regarding their findings.
Prior to this, ICE had already received assistance from the Tennessee Department of Homeland Security and various county sheriff’s offices, including Knox, Greene, Cumberland, Grainger, and Morgan.
