Trump Takes Action Against Discriminatory Banking Practices
President Donald Trump is once again tightening the government’s stance against alleged corruption and discrimination within financial institutions. Some well-known banks have shown a consistent pattern of participating in government surveillance programs that target conservatives. Reports indicate that during the Biden administration, banks were directed to flag individuals and businesses associated with terms like “Trump” or “Maga,” or affiliated with retailers such as Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shop.
“This kind of practice is incompatible with a free society,” Trump stated.
In reaction to these issues, Trump signed an executive order on Thursday aimed at protecting politically affiliated citizens and their businesses from discrimination.
The executive order outlines how individuals, due to their political affiliations or legal business activities, have faced consequences like frozen salaries, debts, and severe impacts on their livelihoods, reputations, and financial security.
Following the executive order’s announcement, treasurers across the nation expressed support, praising Trump’s effort to restore neutrality in banking practices. They noted that eliminating this regulatory abuse is crucial.
“By clearly stating that banks should evaluate clients based on objective financial measures and not on political or religious grounds, his actions represent a meaningful step toward restoring fairness and ending unlawful discrimination in finance,” said a statement from 32 state finance professionals.
Several prominent figures continue to speak out, emphasizing the need for equitable economic opportunities for all Americans. A recent statement reiterated a commitment to halt discriminatory banking practices.
