Ana Navarro Urges Gloria Gaynor to Decline Kennedy Center Honor from Trump

On Thursday, Ana Navarro, co-host of “The View,” passionately asked music legend Gloria Gaynor to turn down an upcoming award from President Donald Trump. In an Instagram post, Navarro recounted a previous encounter with the “I Will Survive” singer, where Gaynor gifted her a keychain related to the iconic song.

Navarro expressed her discontent about Gaynor receiving an honor from Trump, stating, “Look, the woman is a goddess and deserves all the flowers that come in her path.”

Trump had recently announced that Gaynor would be recognized at the 48th Kennedy Center Honors, with the event scheduled for December. Alongside her, other honorees include country star George Strait, rock group KISS, actor Sylvester Stallone, and Michael Crawford.

In response to the announcement, a representative for Gaynor noted that she felt “congratulated and honored” to accept the award.

Navarro further emphasized that Gaynor’s song has become an anthem for the LGBTQ+ community, stating, “Trump is a stain on KCH’s fame and importance. Don’t do that, Gloria!” It’s clear from Navarro’s remarks that she’s quite concerned about the implications of Gaynor’s association with the president.

Meanwhile, Gaynor expressed her hope that receiving this honor would allow her to continue inspiring others through her music and art, aiming to foster encouragement and unity.

Interestingly, Gaynor’s team did not respond to Navarro’s comments when contacted for a statement.

This honor comes after Trump has made significant changes at the Kennedy Center, having replaced several board members with those aligned with his views. His recent actions have drawn criticism from various artistic circles, resulting in resignations and cancellations from several prominent figures in the industry.
