Gadot Discusses Snow White’s Box Office Struggles

Actress Gal Gadot recently shared insights during an interview on Israeli Channel 12’s “The A Talks,” suggesting that a remake of “Snow White” faced challenges at the box office partly due to pressure in Hollywood to criticize Israel. She expressed surprise about the film’s performance, commenting, “I thought it was a huge success, so what happened around October 7th, along with the ongoing issues in various industries and Hollywood, were surprising.”

Gadot’s reflections on the film’s struggles emerged in discussions with journalists, including those on the autism spectrum. The film reportedly grossed $205 million globally but fell short of its estimated $270 million budget. In this adaptation, Gadot portrayed the evil Queen while Rachel Zegler took on the role of Snow White. Controversy surrounded the film, particularly due to some of Zegler’s provocative social media posts.

After the re-election of President Donald Trump in November 2024, Zegler’s posts included remarks like, “F-K Donald Trump,” and she had previously urged support for Palestine in a post related to the trailer for “Snow White.” Producer Mark Pratt even traveled to New York to persuade Zegler to remove these posts, but she declined. While there were rumors of a rift between the two actresses, Gadot insisted on “The A Talks” that they enjoyed collaborating and shared laughter.

Since the Hamas attacks on October 7th, there has been a notable increase in anti-Israel sentiment, leading to tragic consequences. Gadot commented, “You can try to offer context about the situation here, but ultimately, people will draw their own conclusions. I felt let down that external pressures impacted the film’s success.”

At this time, Disney has not provided any comment on the situation.
